This is the heartwarming moment three puppies were reunited with their mother after getting stuck deep inside a drain.
The puppies were successfully rescued by a local wildlife activist after a one-hour operation in northeast India.
The tiny puppies had got inside the drain in search of shelter but started squeaking soon after getting stuck.
The incident occurred in Tezpur city in the northeastern state of Assam.
Well-known local wildlife enthusiast Saurav Bor Kataki, 37, became aware of the trapped animals after receiving an SOS from a resident.
When Kataki – seen in the video wearing a brown T-shirt and red shorts – investigated, he was taken aback by just how far inside the drain the puppies had made it.
He immediately returned home and went back to the drain site with an excavator to dig out the heavy-duty drain cover in order to free the puppies.
Local citizens began to help him as he got to work.
In the video, the men can be seen digging the drain with the help of a hand-operated excavator and wooden logs.
Eventually, the puppies emerge hesitantly from their dark hole and bound over to their mother.
The puppies were seen nuzzling their mother and drinking milk as soon as they were freed from their lengthy ordeal.
Saurav said: “The babies were hungry. As soon they got out of the drain, they ran towards their mother and started drinking milk. They seemed very hungry, it was quite a moving scene.”
The puppies were given the all-clear after a health check and are now with their mother.
