This dog’s motherly instincts led her to bravely fight a poisonous snake that was threatening her family of puppies.

Filmed near the outskirts of Bhadrak, Odisha in eastern India on September 17, the video shows the mother dog barking ferociously at the cobra.

The dog and its seven puppies had taken shelter under the staircase of a house. When the snake slithered in and bit two of the puppies, leaving them dead, the mother dog pounced upon the poisonous snake.

On hearing the fierce hissing and barking, local people gathered at the spot to watch the fight.

Despite the mother’s bravery, two puppies died at the hands of the vicious snake. Locals called Mirza Mohd Arif, a snake rescuer, who then took the reptile away.
