I rescued Kobi from the Lee County Humane Society here in SW Florida three a little over four ago. She was seven months old when I got her. Some people found her as a small pup wandering along the side of the road. They kept her for a few months and then took her in to be adopted. They claimed she was too playful and had way too much energy for their two older dogs. It just so happened that I was looking for a Black Lab at that time. I saw a photo of her on the Humane Society’s web site and went in and adopted her the very same day. She instantly became a part of the family! Internet users in China were shocked last week by a disturbing photo of a man in Xiamen repeatedly launching a puppy football-style into the ocean.

According to eyewitnesses, when the puppy paddled back to shore, the man threw it back into the waves—a total of five times.

The man yelled at bystanders when they told him to leave the dog alone. The puppy eventually sought shelter on a nearby rock.

But the story has a happy ending. Two men rowed out to rescue the dog. And a young woman took the animal and said she would adopt it.

Outraged Chinese Internet users are now searching for the identity of the man.
